One of the largest concentration of Koreans is in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in the eastern Jilin Province. Their cities are the Yanji and Tumen and the other countries are the Yanji, Helong, Antu, Huichun, Wangqing and Dunhua that covers a total area of 41,500 sq. km.

The Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture is very beautiful and stunning majestic land of the high mountains and in deep valleys. The land rises to 2,744 meters above the sea level to the highest peak of the Changbai Mountains in the White Head Summit. It has an extinct volcano from the crater lake of which is the spring of the Yalu and Tumen rivers that flows from the south and north respectively and forms the border with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and to the east.

As nowadays, the are is accessible by both road and rail except for the mountain that are locked in the Hunchun District. The prefecture has 1,600 km of railways and 3,700 km highways and branch roads.

 

Thus, there is another community of Korean that lives in the Changbai Korean Autonomous County in the southeastern Jilin.

Hence, their traditional Korean dress is white, a symbol of the simplicity and serenity. As for men, they wear baggy trousers fastened at the ankles and a jacket which can be fastens on the right or sometimes they wear a high-crowned black horsehair hat. And as for women, they wear voluminous skirts and a tight jacket which reaches just below their armpits.

As for their cuisine, it is very spicy and it includes the Kimchi commonly fermented or it is called pickled vegetables, a cold noodles, sticky rice cakes and dog meat.

The Yanbian is fairly populated, with villages set a few miles apart from each other and ranging in size from about a dozen households to several scores. Their houses are built of wood with low-eaved tile or thatched roofs.

They are heated by flues running under a raised platform in the main rooms, which serves as a bed and also a place to sit on. Shoes are removed before entering the house because of cleanliness.

Yanbian are also well-known area for its culture and art troupes and cultural organizations. As it include the United Association of Yanbian Culture and Art Workers and the Yanbian Branch of the Chinese Writers Association. The Yanbian also have song and dance, modern drama and theatrical.

Korean ethnic minority has set up an efficient network of their health care centers and hospitals that includes the Yanbian Hospital, a tuberculosis treatment center, an anti-epidemic hospital and a psychiatric sanatorium.

The Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture boasts high standards of maternity, childcare and family planning, as well as an enviable record in the fight against endemic diseases. This is to ensure that the indigenous people do have facilities to let them to be access easily.
